Game cinematic environment

This was my final unit of third year. Inspired by 'Red Sister' by Mark Lawrence, I created a cinematic of an exterior environment in Unreal Engine 5 designed to appear part of a game.

Red Sister is set on Abeth (not Earth) which is a planet with a dying sun. An artificial sun called the ‘focus moon’ concentrates the dying sun's rays on a narrow strip of land left called ‘the corridor’. Beyond the corridor is ice. However, as the sun's power fades; the ice is closing in which is forcing inhabitants closer together and causing a lot of conflict and political tension.

Final video

This is a revised version of the video I worked on after graduating. Initially I had to do everything myself (apart from the grass and sound); in this version I have added assets of trees and rocks from Fab.com.

Initial video

Final building with texture and shading done by me in Substance Painter and Unreal Engine 5
Final building model with no final look. The building components were modelled in Maya while the mountain was modelled in Unreal Engine 5. Smaller rock details were modelled in Maya and had procedural sedimentary look applied in Houdini.
